Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between CILS, CELI and PLIDA? +
They are three official B1 certifications, all recognised by the Italian State. They differ in the issuing institution, the test format and geographic availability.
- CILS — University for Foreigners of Siena. Two versions: B1 Citizenship (simplified) and B1 Standard.
- CELI — University for Foreigners of Perugia. Standard version only.
- PLIDA — Società Dante Alighieri. Standard version only.
ArrivaB1 prepares you for all three.
How long do I need to prepare? +
It depends on your current level. After the initial diagnostic test (free), we honestly tell you how many weeks of study you need. On average:
- From A2 to B1 Citizenship: 6-10 weeks
- From A2 to B1 Standard: 10-16 weeks
The Plus plan (6 months) is designed to cover this period. The Pro plan (12 months) is for those who want to study more calmly.
Why a minimum of 21 days between one level and the next? +
To ensure consolidated learning, each level (First Flight, Cruise Flight, Night Flight, Final Landing) has a minimum exposure time of 21 days from the date you buy the plan.
Even after meeting the modules' score requirements, the next level only unlocks once this period has passed. It's the recognised teaching practice for long-term memory — no superficial learning.
Are the AI corrections reliable? +
Our corrections use a specialised AI, trained specifically on the CILS assessment criteria. Every answer gets an analysis across 4 dimensions: appropriateness, coherence, vocabulary, grammar.
They don't replace a human teacher, but they give you immediate, detailed feedback — far more than a standard spell-checker would.
What happens if I don't pass the exam? +
